Competition, Weather Hot at Two-Day Handicap Tourney

RANCHO MURIETA, CA (MPG) - Rancho Murieta Country Club’s (RMCC) Women’s Golf Club recently held The Handicap Tournament, one of its major tournaments of the year. This tournament is played on both the north and south courses of RMCC over a two-day period. The competition was based on the ladies’ individual net strokes, using 95% of each player’s handicap. Thirty-four Women’s Golf Club ladies competed, playing in either of two flights: Bronze/Platinum tees or Platinum tees.
The competition was hot, in both the weather of over 100 degrees on both days, and in scores. It was a tight race that was decided on the final day of competition. The superb course conditions allowed for best play from all golfers finishing in a tight race for the Handicap Tournament Championship. Spectators kept their eyes on the leaderboard through the last hole played.
The final score took it to a scorecard playoff between Lyniel Takahashi and Alison Gomez, both boasting the best net score total of 138 strokes for the two days of play. In the end, Takahashi walked away with the title of overall Women’s Golf Club Handicap Tournament Champion.
In addition to the overall champion, there were payouts of three places in the Bronze/Platinum Flight and six places in the Platinum Flight. Helen Kang took home first place honors, scoring a net 143 over the two days in the Bronze/Platinum Flight, and Grace Suk and Lucia Choi placed second (net 143) and third (net 150), respectively.
In the Platinum Flight, Alice Gomez walked away with first place honors, followed by Pamela O’Hern, second, with a two-day net of 141 strokes, and Sharon Croswell, shooting a 146 two-day net for third. Also walking away with awards in the Platinum Flight were Mischel Choi in fourth place, a two-day net of 148, and Joanna Graf in fifth with a net of 149. El Louise Waldron rounded out the field in sixth place with a two-day net score of 151.

Charm and Putt Tournament
Rancho Murieta Country Club (RMCC) Niners Golf Group recently held its monthly Charm and Putt tournament on a sizzling hot day. The ladies played a great round of golf on spectacular course conditions. 
After the nine holes of friendly competition, the ladies met for a buffet luncheon and general meeting, led by Captain Pamela O’Hern. Tournament Chair Patty Lilli DuVal announced the winners of the day’s competition. The golfer finishing the nine holes with the fewest putts was Frances Aguilar with only 15 shots sunk from the green. Playing from the platinum tee box and hitting the ball into the hole for a net 32 was Carol Kenobbi. This earned Kenobbi the distinction of earning the Charm portion of May’s Charm and Putt competition. 
Also announced at the Niners general meeting was the Most Improved Player for the month of May. Handicap Chairperson Barbara Armstrong announced that this player lowered her handicap index 1.6 points. The lady golfer achieving this phenomenal goal was Therese Yannuzzi. Therese currently has a handicap index of 17.1
