Gold Rush Classic Slated Aug. 22 and 23

RANCHO MURIETA, CA (MPG) - Slated to unfold at the Rancho Murieta Country Club on Aug. 22 and 23, the Gold Rush Classic has already lined up two dozen sports celebrities who are ready to play in the Pro-Am golf tournament.
The lineup is expected to include Michael Carter, Marcus DuPree, Gary Gerould, Rick Jennings, Greg Loyd, Greg Ostertag, Polynice Olden, Reggie Theus, Kenny Thomas and Greg Vaughn, plus 13 other sports celebrities
Celebrating its fifth year, the Gold Rush Classic is still seeking a few more sponsors. Interested parties can email [email protected].
In addition to being a celebrity Pro-Am tournament, the Gold Rush Classic will offer a $1 million hole-in-one contest, a celebrity skins challenge, a celebrity draft party, a farm-to-fork- dinner and a live concert with Where the Stars and Guitars Shine.
Open to the public, the concert will feature the popular country band Moonshine Crazy. The 8 p.m. performance is slated at Lake Clementia. The tickets, $25 and under, will be sold at the usual ETC outlets.

Funds generated from this event will support Jordan’s Guardian Angels, Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1st Tee of Sacramento, Gold Rush Charlies, the Rancho Murieta Community Church Youth Group, the Murieta Trail Stewardship, the Rancho Murieta Kiwanis Club, the Pleasant Grove High School Golf teams and other children’s charities in Sacramento and beyond.
The original Gold Rush Golf Tournament was held at the Rancho Murieta Country Club from 1983 to 1987. During those years, the tournament became a significant event in the Senior PGA Tour calendar.
It also attracted legendary golfers, including Arnold Palmer, who won the tournament in its inaugural years.
