RANCHO MURIETA, CA (MPG) - Although only a few Rancho Murieta residents will play a round of golf with celebrities such as Sacramento Kings player Malik Monk or retired football hall-of-famer Tim Brown when the Gold Rush Classic unfolds this month, everyone is invited to the culminating event.
The pro-am tournament at the Rancho Murieta Country Club will wrap up with the “Where the Stars and Guitars Shine” concert at the Lake Clementia Amphitheater on Friday, Aug. 23. The gates open at 7 p.m. and the music begins at 8 p.m.
Moonshine Crazy, a Northern California band known for covering and writing modern country-rock music, is the featured act. The band recently performed at the Folsom Pro Rodeo and headlined at the Red Hawk Casino on New Year’s Eve. Moonshine Crazy has also opened for many country recording artists.
Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased at The Local Bean Café up until the event.
Tickets will also be sold at the gate before the concert, subject to availability. For more details, visitgoldrushclassic.org.
Funds generated from the Gold Rush Classic will support Jordan’s Guardian Angels, Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1st Tee of Sacramento, Gold Rush Charlies, the Rancho Murieta Community Church Youth Group, the Murieta Trail Stewardship, the Rancho Murieta Kiwanis Club, the Pleasant Grove High School Golf teams and other children’s charities in Sacramento and beyond.
The original Gold Rush Golf Tournament was held at the Rancho Murieta Country Club from 1983 to 1987. During those years, the tournament became a significant event in the Senior PGA Tour calendar. It also attracted legendary golfers, including Arnold Palmer who won the tournament in the event's inaugural year.
