SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Our Community Emergency Response Team’s (CERT) exemplary service has earned them the esteemed 2024 Heroes of Human Services award, presented by Supervisor Sue Frost at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors meeting on Nov. 5. 

Through extensive volunteer work, they have demonstrated unwavering dedication to community safety and well-being. Their empathetic approach is highlighted by notable initiatives, such as installing hundreds of smoke alarms in economically disadvantaged areas, thereby enhancing fire safety awareness and planning. 

Throughout the years, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District’s CERT team has played a crucial role in the response effort to various disasters in our region and beyond. They provide essential support during severe weather events and power outages and support our crews with rehab and relief when resources are thin.

Characterized by their selflessness, the team delivers vital emergency training and first aid services, including hands-only CPR and Stop the Bleed. Their contributions have undoubtedly saved lives and property, making them an invaluable asset to our community. Congratulations, CERT!
