RANCHO MURIETA, CA (MPG) - The weather was perfect and spirits were high as Opening Day unfolded at Summerfest Spray Park in Riverview Park on May 24.
Summerfest and the Rancho Murieta Association Recreation Committee sponsored the hometown event that drew at least 300 kids, parents and grandparents.
Wyly Haviland chairs the committee.
“Good cheer and smiles were in abundance for this fun in the sun event,” he said.
RMA executive assistant April Mattice, who is the staff liaison with the committee, said the volunteers from both organizations kept the youngsters and their families well-fed and energized for the spray park fun.
Summerfest provided the hot dogs and buns, and board members even stepped in to grill them, Mattice said.
“We served about 120 hot dogs, lots of popcorn and a whole lot of Sno-Cones,” she added.
“We could tell by the colored tongues of the happy children and adults that they thoroughly enjoyed their Sno-Cones,” Haviland said. “The master chefs (Mike Martel and Sid Williams) provided everyone with the now-famous, mouth-watering all-beef hot dogs, and the freshly made popcorn was warm and buttery.”
Haviland also thanked everyone who attended, along with all the volunteers—“especially the RMA maintenance crew, who ensured the water features were working perfectly,” he said.
