RANCHO MURIETA, CA (MPG) - Rancho Murieta Community Services District utility workers responded to a water main break on Pescado Circle near Lago Drive on Sunday, Jan. 4 and remained on scene into Monday morning, according to Interim General Manager Amelia Wilder. She said an estimated 60,000 gallons of water were lost.

According to the district’s security log, a security officer responded to a report of street flooding at 2:20 p.m. and discovered water seeping from underground between the asphalt and the sidewalk. The water department was then notified.

Wilder said five district employees responded to the scene Sunday, with six working on repairs Monday. She expected repairs to be completed later that day.

Equipment used in the repair included a backhoe, asphalt saw, dump truck, service trucks, and traffic control devices such as signs, barricades and cones. The district also contracted with Edco to provide a vector truck.

Wilder said she was not aware of any cause for the break other than the age of the infrastructure.
The incident marked the first use of the district’s new emergency notification system. An alert sent at 4:43 p.m. stated, “A water main break has been reported on Pescado Circle. Water will be turned off for repairs and restored as soon as possible.”

The district recently transitioned from the CodeRed system to the SISA Smart Alert Platform operated by HQE Systems. Most phone numbers have been transferred from CodeRed, and residents may now enroll directly at rmcsd.sircom.org/subscribe.
