SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - A criminal case stemming from a high-profile 2025 manhunt in Rancho Murieta has been dismissed after a judge found insufficient evidence to proceed.

At a preliminary hearing on April 22, Sacramento County Superior Court dismissed the case against Randall Eugene Stoker after determining there was not enough evidence to hold him to answer on the charges, according to Shelly Orio, public information officer for the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

Stoker had been charged with felony corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant and felony burglary following his Aug. 31, 2025, arrest, which drew significant attention on social media.

The case was dismissed at the preliminary hearing stage, where a judge evaluates whether sufficient evidence exists for a case to proceed to trial. In this instance, the court determined that standard was not met.

The original incident prompted a large law enforcement response and hours-long manhunt inside Rancho Murieta, with deputies searching for Stoker after responding to a reported burglary in progress. The event generated widespread concern among residents and extensive discussion on social media at the time.

Following the April 22 hearing, the court granted a motion to dismiss and exonerated bail, according to court records.
