RANCHO MURIETA, CA (MPG) - A collision involving a Tesla and a Mercedes injured one person on May 8 on Jackson Highway between Van Vleck and Michigan Bar Road, according to preliminary information. The crash initially was reported as a head-on collision.

The accident was reported at about 7:47 a.m. According to second-hand information provided by Anthony Real of Plymouth, his wife, Angie Real, 53, was driving eastbound when a westbound Tesla allegedly crossed into her lane while preparing to pass a dump truck, colliding with her Mercedes.

Witnesses also reportedly told Real that the Tesla had passed numerous vehicles before the crash.
Real said his wife was transported to Kaiser South with non-life-threatening injuries. One of the California Highway Patrol officers at the scene said the roadway was blocked until first responders pushed the vehicles to the shoulder. The vehicles came to rest about a football-field length apart.

The Tesla driver and a passenger reportedly were not injured. CHP was investigating the crash.
