FAIR OAKS, CA (MPG) - The Rancho Murieta Pickleball Club’s travel team turned in an impressive performance on June 6 during a series of matches against the Rollingwood YMCA Pickleball Club in Fair Oaks.
Competing in mixed doubles and women’s doubles play, Rancho Murieta players posted winning records across multiple divisions during the friendly interclub competition. The event featured rally scoring to 21 points per game and was organized by Travel Team Manager Hayley Friedman.
In 3.0 mixed doubles play, Phyllis Banducci and Paul Melnick led the way with a perfect 4-0 record. Alan and Susie Chase, along with the team of Hayley Friedman and Greg Brown, each finished 3-1. Galey Betzler and Steve Detrick split their matches, posting a 2-2 record.
In the 3.5 division, Ken Hanlon and Friedman compiled a 3-2 record against their Rollingwood opponents. Rancho Murieta and Rollingwood evenly split the women’s doubles matches.
The Rancho Murieta Pickleball Club has more than 100 active members. Its travel team regularly visits other pickleball venues to compete against clubs outside the community. Friedman manages the travel squad and hopes to host a future interclub event at the Stonehouse Park pickleball complex.
The competition provided both strong play and an opportunity for players from both clubs to enjoy a day of friendly rivalry and camaraderie.
