RANCHO MURIETA, CA (MPG) - The Rancho Murieta Association Compliance Committee upheld a rule violation issued to former RMA Director Danny Carrillo for riding his skateboard through the community with his dog Leo.

Carrillo and his wife, Sherry Luman-Carrillo, plan to appeal the decision to the RMA Board of Directors during its Nov. 17 executive session.

In an Oct. 9 letter, RMA Compliance notified the couple the committee upheld the violation following an Oct. 7 hearing. No fine was imposed.

The original Aug. 28 notice alleged that Carrillo violated an RMA rule prohibiting a person from riding a skateboard, bicycle or scooter while tethered to another person, animal or property.

Carrillo disputes the allegation, maintaining that he was holding Leo's leash in his hand and was not tethered to the dog.

Carrillo, who served nearly five years on the RMA board before resigning in August 2025, said he had skateboarded with his dogs through the community for more than a decade without receiving a warning.

Sherry Luman-Carrillo said the couple believes the rule is being enforced selectively and intends to challenge the committee's decision.

The couple also plans to attend the board's regular meeting Nov. 17, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the RMA Building.
